Q:How many fieldwork hours are required for the BCBA exam?
Candidates must complete either 2,000 hours of Supervised Fieldwork (with at least 5% supervision monthly) or 1,500 hours of Concentrated Supervised Fieldwork (with at least 10% supervision monthly).
Q:What is the monthly cap on BACB fieldwork hours?
Trainees can accrue a minimum of 20 hours and a maximum of 130 hours of fieldwork per calendar month. Hours logged below 20 or above 130 in a month cannot be credited.
Q:What percentage of BCBA fieldwork must be unrestricted?
At least 60% of all accrued hours across your entire fieldwork experience must be unrestricted activities (e.g., assessments, writing BIPs, analyzing data, training staff). A maximum of 40% can be restricted direct client therapy.
Q:How many supervision contacts are required each month?
For standard Supervised Fieldwork, trainees must have at least 4 supervision contacts per month. For Concentrated Supervised Fieldwork, at least 6 contacts per month are required. In all pathways, individual supervision must constitute at least 50% of supervision hours (group cannot exceed 50%).
